Photoshop Tools

Two of my favorite Photoshop tools are the quick selection tool and the healing brush tool. I like using the quick selection tool because it makes it easy to combine two pictures into one. I like how you can get creative and put yourself on crazy backgrounds like the moon or different countries. Another one of my favorite tools on Photoshop is the healing brush tool. Although it takes time i like this tool because it makes blemishes go away so the picture looks clear. This tool comes in handy when there is something on your face you don't like, with this tool its very easy to hide it. 

Elements and Principals of Design

Elements of Design: 

Line:In a design, lines are used to emphasize something or lead the viewer’s eyes to a focus point. Lines come in a variety of styles, including dashed, bold, straight, or curvy. 

Shape:

Shapes are 2 dimensional. They

 are created by connecting lines.

When using shapes in a design people

 sometimes put different shapes together

 to create a bigger picture.

 Color:

Color is very important in design. Color reflects the mood of a design by using different hues to portray it. Color wheels are used to choose colors that would be pleasing to the eye, such as purple and yellow or green and red. 

Texture:

In a design, texture is used to reflect how the surface of the object would feel. Different textures could be smooth, rough, fuzzy, ect.The pineapple represents texture because from that picture the viewer can tell the outside of the pineapple would be rough and prickly. 

Space:

Space is defined as the area a design occupies in a design. Space could be positive or negative. While positive space is where the design is drawn, negative is described as the background of a design.The first duck represents positive space while the duck to the right represents negative space. 

Principals of Design:

Rhythm:

Designs that contain rhythm flow together. It creates transitions from one part of a design to another. In the picture below rhythm is created with the multiple curvy lines next to each other. It takes the views eyes from the left of the design to the right.

Emphasis:

there are many ways to create emphasis in a design. Emphasis allows a certain part of a design to stand out, whether its with contrasting colors or using different shapes. This image represents emphasis by using a different shape and size to make the big circle stand out. Also the lines surrounding it draws our attention to the intended focus point. 

Balance:

Balance means the design has stability. There are more then one type of balance principals. This image portrays symmetrical balance because if a line was drawn in the middle of the image, both sides would be the same. 

Unity:

When a design has unity, everything looks like it belongs in that place. As the different designs flow together and create harmony.The colors and texture in the picture creates unity because the patterns and colors repeat making it flow. 

Pattern:

When a pattern is repeated throughout a design it contains patterns. The image below represents a pattern because the shape is repeated throughout the design in different shades. 

Contrast:

Contrast uses opposite colors to show emphasis in a design. Black and white are contrast colors which made the design stand out more. 

Variety:

Pictures that have variety have a lot going on in the design. This design contains many different colors and elements put together and it is also all over the place. It is hard for the viewer to find a focus point or keep their eyes just as one spot. 

Proportion:

Proportion uses sizes and shapes in a design. It shows the relationship to the elements in the design. the image below shows proportion because it contains shapes  with the same sized to everything else in the picture.
